Each year the Scandinavian Business Club endeavors to grant one or more post-secondary scholarship/bursary to qualifying applicants.

For 2024 we will grant one scholarship/bursary of $1000.

The application deadline is Friday July 19th

QUALIFICATIONS:

All applicants must be enrolled in post-secondary studies at a recognized Canadian educational institution

  • Resident of British Columbia;
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary educational institution;
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the Scandinavian Business Club of BC or have a close family member who is a member, who are of Scandinavian heritage, and/or who have a substantial interest in Scandinavia and Scandinavian culture and heritage. (Note that qualifying membership in the Scandinavian Business Club of BC must be for at least one year prior to the application deadline)

The application must contain the following required information and documentation:

  1. A cover letter (must include the Declaration/Disclosure and Authorization provided below).
  2. Full name, date of birth, and residency status.
  3. Home address, mailing address (if different), email address, and phone number.
  4. General information: goals, hobbies, interests, community/volunteer work, outdoor and athletic activities, work experience, etc.
  5. Evidence of Scandinavian heritage, membership in the Scandinavian Business Club of BC or close family member who is a member, and active interests in Scandinavia and Scandinavian culture and heritage.
  6. Name of secondary school attended (transcript if graduated in past two years).
  7. Name of institution currently attending (if applicable) and transcript.
  8. Proof of admission/registration for fall of 2024, including student number.
  9. Program or courses of study.
  10. Budget for the coming year, including scholarships and bursaries.
  11. Three letters of reference, one of whom must be a former or current teacher/instructor/professor (these are to be current, dated and signed with contact information).

Scholarships will be paid to the institution where the successful applicant is enrolled (student number will be required). The Scholarship Committee may request copies of originals, check documents for authenticity, and contact references. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to decline awarding a scholarship/bursary if there are no suitable applicants for the award.

The scholarship/bursary will be presented officially at one of our fall 2024 events and it is expected that the recipient attend (complimentary).
